Naionra Gael Scoil Aogain Cuideachta Faoi Theorainn Rathaiochta

Gaelscoil Aogáin is an Irish-medium primary school located on College Road in Oileán Ciarraí, County Kerry. The institution is committed to full immersion education, placing the Irish language at the heart of its curriculum. It serves approximately 180 pupils and employs eleven class teachers alongside a learning support team of three experienced staff members. The school strongly advocates for bilingual education, noting that early reading through Irish enhances literacy in both Irish and English and supports cognitive development.

The school provides comprehensive facilities and wraparound care to support student wellbeing and learning. These include an all-weather pitch, two basketball courts, and access to nearby athletics facilities. Nutritious hot lunches are provided by The Lunch Bag, while Naíonra offers before and after-school care with hot meals. To enhance digital literacy, the school supplies thirty Chromebooks and runs an after-school coding club for pupils interested in technology and problem-solving.

An active Parents’ Council supports and enriches school life, welcoming new members who wish to contribute. The learning support team collaborates with class teachers to deliver personalised assistance in literacy and numeracy, offering help in-class, in small groups, or one-to-one. This approach aims to build confidence and help every learner thrive in an inclusive environment. The school has been open for thirty-nine years and was recently recognised as a Fyffes Fittest School for its active pupils.
