Solas Resource Centre CLG

Solas Family Resource Centre is a community-focused charity serving Headford and the surrounding areas of County Galway. Drawing its name from the Irish word for "light", Solas provides a welcoming, confidential space where individuals, families and groups can access a wide range of support services aimed at alleviating social and economic disadvantage.

Key programmes include Meals on Wheels, affordable counselling, play therapy and annual health days that bring together health, welfare and safety agencies for free screenings and advice. The centre also organises specialist events such as Women's Health Day, offering blood-pressure, diabetes and HIV testing, hearing assessments and mental-health guidance from partners including Mental Health Ireland and Pieta House. In addition, Solas collaborates on youth initiatives, running a weekly youth café during the summer, and supports local culture through activities like the Headford Camera Club competition.

With a strong emphasis on openness and community spirit, Solas invites anyone in need of a friendly chat or practical assistance to drop in at any time, reinforcing its role as a vital resource hub for the people of Headford.
