Company Description

The Irish Energy Storage Association (IESA) was founded in 2017 as the collective voice for Ireland’s rapidly expanding energy‑storage sector. As a company limited by guarantee, IESA works to promote a broad spectrum of storage technologies—including batteries, flywheels, pumped hydro, compressed‑air, thermal and green‑hydrogen solutions—and to demonstrate how these can deliver system services, capture arbitrage opportunities and maximise the benefits of renewable generation across the island.

Through active engagement with regulators, grid operators and industry stakeholders, IESA advocates for policies that enable the integration of medium‑ to long‑term storage capacity – targeting around 1 900 MWh by 2030. The association also provides a vibrant membership community, offering webinars, training sessions and access to specialist studies such as the AFRY “Missing Link” report. Members benefit from a network of experts, council‑level insight and a library of presentations and resources that support the development and commercialisation of storage projects.

Open to anyone with an interest in energy storage, IESA welcomes new members to join a collaborative, knowledge‑rich environment that is shaping the future of Ireland’s clean‑energy landscape.
