Hungarian School and Preschool Cork CLG

Hungarian School and Preschool Cork (Corki Magyar Iskola és Óvoda) is a community-focused educational charity that provides Hungarian-language teaching and cultural enrichment for children living in Ireland. Established in September 2010, the school began with just 13 pupils in the Nasc (Irish Immigrant Support Centre) building and now operates from the third-floor classrooms of a local gymnasium, delivering a structured programme for 3- to 14-year-olds.

The school runs weekly teaching sessions each Sunday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, totalling around 26 lessons between September and May. Its curriculum blends language instruction with the preservation of Hungarian traditions, literature and lifestyle, while also organising school-wide events, open community gatherings and scouting activities. Enrollment opens twice a year, with the next deadline on 31 August 2025 and the new academic term commencing on 14 September 2025.

Through a dedicated team of teachers, supportive partners and an active parent and grandparent network, the Cork Hungarian School and Preschool nurtures a vibrant diaspora community, ensuring that the language, culture and heritage of Hungary continue to thrive in Cork and across Ireland.
