NATIONAL PLATFORM OF SELF ADVOCATES COMPANY LIMITED BY GUARANTEE

The National Platform of Self Advocates is an independent Disabled Persons Organisation run by people with intellectual disabilities for people with intellectual disabilities. Its core purpose is to ensure that the voices of those with intellectual disability are heard, respected and acted upon, with a clear aim of "making the lives of people with a disability better". The Platform champions a fully inclusive society where equal rights, opportunities and appropriate support enable every individual to reach their full potential.

To deliver this mission the organisation offers a range of practical resources and programmes. It links self-advocacy groups through a membership network, provides free online courses such as "Introduction to Advocacy" and "Advocacy and Leadership", and publishes guides on plain-English communication, inclusive meeting practices and other accessibility tools. In addition, the Platform organises national events - for example the "Let's Get Working!" conference - and contributes to policy discussions, including UN disability rights reviews and national human-rights strategies. Through these activities the Platform supports and amplifies the rights of people with intellectual disabilities across Ireland.
