Common Knowledge is an award‑winning, non‑profit social enterprise that exists to share the practical skills needed for a truly sustainable life. Based on 50 acres at the gateway to the Burren on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way, the centre provides a welcoming haven for learning, exploration and connection, offering serene accommodation for individuals and groups who want to deepen their relationship with the land and with each other.

The organisation runs a diverse programme of hands‑on courses and workshops under its popular Build School banner, covering self‑build, DIY, construction, timber‑framed homes and eco‑friendly techniques such as Shou Sugi Ban. It also delivers community‑focused events on food systems, design thinking, handmade gifting and home‑repair skills, from kitchen‑cabinet makeovers to weekend DIY repair sessions. These courses empower participants to design, build and maintain their own sustainable homes, gardens and projects while saving money and reducing environmental impact.
