Abbeyleix Heritage Company CLG

Abbeyleix Heritage Company Limited by Guarantee runs Heritage House, a vibrant cultural hub housed in the historic former North Boys' School in Abbeyleix, County Laois. Since opening in 1997, the organisation has curated a museum that brings the story of Abbeyleix and the wider Laois region to life, covering periods from pre-Christian times through the industrial era - including the famed Abbeyleix Carpet Factory that supplied hand-tufted carpets for the Titanic's state room.

Beyond the exhibition spaces, Heritage House offers a craft and gift shop showcasing work by local artists, a well-stocked research room with affordable family research packages, and a secure playground for children. The venue also provides adaptable conference rooms, complete with Wi-Fi, audiovisual facilities and catering, as well as flexible office space, making it an ideal setting for meetings, events and heritage-focused projects. With ample parking and free public toilets, the centre serves families, scholars, tourists and businesses seeking a uniquely Irish heritage experience.
