Waterford Marine SAR Service Company Limited By Guarantee is a volunteer-run rescue and recovery organisation that has been safeguarding the people of Waterford City and County since 2010. Operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the service maintains a fleet of three launch-ready boats - a 6.5 m XS RIB as the primary rescue craft, two 4.35 m Whally boats for recovery work, plus a dedicated flood-rescue vessel and a 3 m inflatable for smaller lakes and rivers.

The team of 50 trained volunteers has rescued 32 individuals from the River Suir, prevented 124 suicide attempts, and logged more than 1 920 hours of patrol each year, contributing to a total of 156 lives saved since the service began. As a recognised Irish Sailing and Rescue (IS & R3) Power-Boat Training Centre, Waterford Marine SAR also offers a two-day Level 2 Powerboating Licence course, covering close-quarters handling, high-speed manoeuvres, man-over-board recovery and collision regulations.

Funded entirely by donations, the organisation relies on community support to continue delivering this essential lifesaving service across Waterford and its waterways.
