Mendicity Institution

Mendicity Institution is Dublin's oldest working charity, founded in 1818, and today it leads the fight against homelessness by empowering individuals to become self-sufficient members of their communities. With a clear mission to disrupt and prevent the cycle of homelessness, Mendicity offers a safe, inclusive space where people experiencing homelessness, isolation or marginalisation can access the support they need to rebuild their lives.

The organisation provides a comprehensive suite of services: hygiene facilities with clean clothes, showers, toiletries and laundry; Safetynet Primary Care for essential health needs; a well-stocked food service operating seven days a week; daytime shelter with comfortable access; and advocacy assistance that connects service users with wider support networks. By combining innovative approaches with high-quality, person-centred care, Mendicity helps individuals regain confidence, secure stable accommodation and move towards lasting independence.
