Kilkenny Cheese Ltd

Kilkenny Cheese Limited is a joint venture established in 2019 between Tirlán and family-owned international dairy business Royal A-ware. The company is developing a €200 million continental cheese facility in Belview, County Kilkenny, which is on track for commissioning in 2024. The state-of-the-art facility will consume over 450 million litres of milk a year from Irish family farms and produce over 50,000 tonnes of continental cheese annually, including Gouda, Edam and Emmental varieties for food service, retail and B2B customers. Royal A-ware will bring these cheeses to the global marketplace, while whey and butterfat for cream production will be marketed through Tirlán. The facility is expected to create 80 direct jobs and support 400 construction jobs, and will support the incomes of over 4,500 farm families. Kilkenny Cheese is a verified member of Origin Green, Ireland’s national food and drink sustainability programme, and describes the facility as one of the most efficient and sustainable continental cheese production facilities in Europe.
