Company Description

The Irish Raptor Research Centre, trading as Eagles Flying, operates Ireland's largest sanctuary for raptors and owls. Situated on more than 27 hectares of mature parklands near Ballymote in South Sligo, the facility was established in 1999 as an institution for research on birds of prey. Active conservation and research programmes remain central to its work, with public access introduced in 2003. The centre is home to various species of eagles, hawks, owls, falcons, and vultures, alongside deer, skunks, and foxes.

The attraction offers daily interactive bird shows where specialists train birds and share information about their biology. Visitors can experience raptors flying overhead or landing nearby, with some birds having wingspans up to three metres. The shows are presented twice daily and can be held indoors during rain. Additionally, the site features a supervised petting zoo with animals such as pigs, rabbits, and goats. The sanctuary welcomes families and groups, requiring no pre-booking for admission.
