Company Description
South Eastern Mountain Rescue (SEMRA) is a volunteer-run, 24-hour mountain-rescue service that has been saving lives across the South East of Ireland since 1977. Drawing on a dedicated team of around 50 members from counties such as Carlow, Clonmel, Dungarvan, Kilkenny, Tipperary and Waterford, SEMRA responds to 50-60 call-outs each year, ranging from urgent first-aid incidents to multi-day searches for missing walkers in the Galtees, Comeraghs, Knockmealdowns, Blackstairs, Slieve Blooms and surrounding ranges.
The organisation's specialities include first-aid treatment, stretcher evacuation, steep-ground and heights rescue, off-road driving, and coordinated operations with the Irish Coast Guard, An Garda Síochána, the HSE, SARDA, Civil Defence and the Air Corps. SEMRA also supports fellow mountain-rescue teams nationwide, lending expertise to events such as Reek Sunday on Croagh Patrick and assisting neighbouring rescue groups when required. Their commitment to continuous skills training and community partnership ensures that anyone caught in difficulty on the mountains of the South East can rely on a professional, compassionate response.
