Holocaust Education Ireland

Holocaust Education Ireland is a national charitable organisation dedicated to preserving the memory of the Holocaust and equipping educators, students and the wider public with the knowledge and tools to teach this pivotal chapter of history. Through a suite of free, high-quality resources-including a comprehensive teachers' handbook, timeline materials, commemorative booklets and an e-learning course-the charity supports teachers at all levels to approach the subject with confidence and sensitivity.

Key programmes include the award-winning Living History visits, where second- and third-generation survivors share personal testimonies in schools, and the interactive Holocaust Webinar, which offers best-practice guidance for classroom instruction. Holocaust Education Ireland also organises two annual study trips-spring to Berlin and autumn to Kraków-providing guided tours of historic sites, as well as specialised teacher-education courses. The organisation runs the Mary Elmes Prize for senior-cycle students, the Crocus Project that supplies schools with crocus bulbs and lesson plans to commemorate the children lost, and a national Holocaust Memorial Day commemoration. By fostering remembrance and education, Holocaust Education Ireland ensures that the lessons of the past remain a vital part of Ireland's cultural conversation.
