Loughanleagh & Muff Heritage Trust CLG

Loughanleagh & Muff Heritage Trust is a voluntary community trust dedicated to protecting and preserving the unique heritage and natural environment of the Loughanleagh region in east County Cavan. Spanning a five-kilometre ridge that rises to 344 metres, the area boasts spectacular panoramic views of up to fourteen counties and a rich tapestry of history from the Neolithic and Stone Age through Celtic and Norman periods. The Trust works to safeguard the landscape from adverse development, ensuring its ecology, archaeology and visual character remain intact for future generations.

In addition to its conservation work, the Trust actively promotes the region's cultural legacy by developing and maintaining five way-marked walking trails approved by Sports Ireland, producing a tourism brochure that highlights local legends, landmarks and natural beauty, and organising community events such as the Loughanleagh Moonwalk, Bilberry Sunday and the historic Fair of Muff. These initiatives invite both locals and visitors to explore, learn and enjoy the legacy of their ancestors in a setting of outstanding natural splendour.
