Cobh Museum

Cobh Museum, housed in the historic Scots Presbyterian Church overlooking Cork Harbour, is the cultural heart of the town's maritime legacy. The museum's permanent and rotating exhibitions bring to life the social, cultural and seafaring history of Cobh and the Great Island - from the town's pivotal role as the last port of call for the RMS Titanic to the dramatic rescue and burial operations following the sinking of the RMS Lusitania. Recent highlights include the 1916 "Scuttling of the Aud" display, a vivid reconstruction of a local gun-running episode, and "Capture the Time", a nostalgic collection of family photographs from the 1950s and 1960s.

Beyond its artefacts, Cobh Museum offers a small genealogical reference section where visitors can explore their own family roots, making it a valuable resource for both locals and tourists interested in personal and communal histories. Open throughout the summer season, the museum provides affordable admission and a welcoming environment for individuals, families and school groups seeking to connect with Ireland's rich maritime past.
