Oranmore Maree Coastal Search Unit CLG

Oranmore Maree Coastal Search Unit Company Limited by Guarantee is a volunteer‑run charity dedicated to locating missing persons in the coastal waters and shoreline of Galway Bay. Operating entirely on the commitment of local volunteers, the unit mobilises a network of trained zone leaders, vessels, drones and vehicles to conduct swift, coordinated search and recovery missions, while also offering family support throughout the process.

Key services include the deployment of specialised search teams, the management of a central base for operations, and the provision of zone‑leader training in partnership with water‑safety organisations. The unit also maintains a robust family‑support programme, ensuring relatives receive guidance and assistance during searches. Regular fundraising activities, such as quiz nights, help sustain the organisation’s equipment and training needs.

Headquartered in Oranmore, Galway, the Coastal Search Unit serves the wider Galway Bay community, drawing on a growing roster of volunteers and assets to respond to emergencies and bring peace of mind to families across the region.
