The Old Knitting Factory Limited is a historic 1906 knitting mill in Connemara that has been lovingly transformed into a childcare‑inclusive arts retreat. Its core mission is to provide funded, welcoming creative experiences for single mothers and other single parents, allowing them to enjoy the tranquillity and inspiration of the Irish west coast while their children are cared for on‑site.

The organisation runs a programme of retreats and workshops—both online and at the Factory itself—where participants can explore a range of artistic practices in a supportive community. In addition, The Old Knitting Factory offers residencies that give single parents dedicated time and space to develop their craft in a peaceful setting. The project is also celebrated in *Ring of Salt*, a memoir by founder and bestselling author Betsy Cornwell, which details the journey of turning the old mill into a home for creativity and healing.
