Failteachas Teoranta

Founded in 1944 and based in Cork, Gaelachas Teoranta is a dedicated cultural organisation that promotes and teaches the Irish language to children and young adults. It runs an all‑Irish primary boarding school, an all‑Irish secondary school (both day and boarding), and a series of vibrant summer colleges that immerse students in Gaeilge through a balanced programme of classroom learning and lively extracurricular activity.

The summer colleges – including Coláiste Samhraidh Glanmire, Coláiste Chiaráin on Cape Clear, Scoil na nÓg and Coláiste an Phiarsaigh – welcome pupils aged ten to fifteen. Highly qualified teachers focus on spoken Irish, developing oral and communication skills while ensuring lessons are enjoyable and participatory. Mornings are devoted to language classes; afternoons and evenings feature games, leagues, competitions, swimming, treasure hunts, céilís and other cultural events, creating a holistic and memorable learning experience.

Gaelachas Teoranta therefore offers a comprehensive, fun‑filled pathway for young learners to acquire fluency and confidence in Irish, fostering a lifelong connection with the language and its rich cultural heritage.
