National Association of Regional Game Councils CLG

The National Association of Regional Game Councils (NARGC) is Ireland’s largest voluntary organisation dedicated to game shooting and wildlife conservation. With around 24 000 associate members spread across roughly 965 gun clubs – essentially one club in almost every parish – NARGC provides a national network for hunters, clay‑shooters and target shooters. Membership is gained through affiliation with a local club, giving individuals access to a supportive community and a voice in the stewardship of Ireland’s game resources.

NARGC’s core services include a comprehensive compensation fund that offers public‑liability and personal‑accident protection for members, a calendar of training courses such as competence certificates and proficiency workshops, and an online shop for specialist equipment. The association also keeps members informed through regular newsletters, updates on issues like avian influenza, and weather notices that affect shooting activities. By combining education, insurance and advocacy, NARGC ensures safe, responsible shooting while promoting the sustainable management of the Irish countryside.
