Farney Foundation Company Limited by Guarantee is a charitable organisation dedicated to celebrating and supporting the people, businesses and initiatives that have a connection with County Monaghan, wherever they may be in the world. As a non‑profit entity, the Foundation’s core activity is the annual Co. Monaghan People of the Year Awards, a high‑profile gala held each February at the Hillgrove Hotel. The event brings together nominees, sponsors and the wider community for a black‑tie evening of dining, entertainment and the presentation of awards that recognise outstanding achievement, contribution to society and the overcoming of personal challenges.

Beyond the awards, Farney Foundation offers a straightforward nomination and voting process that encourages public participation, with proceeds from each €1 vote supporting charitable causes chosen by the winners. The organisation also works closely with local partners—including Monaghan Credit Union, Ballinode Seafoods and the County Council—to foster community spirit and promote Monaghan’s cultural heritage on a global stage.
