Company Description

Derrynane Inshore Rescue Company Limited by Guarantee is a volunteer-run charity that delivers a 24-hour emergency lifeboat service for the Kenmare Bay community. Staffed by trained local volunteers, the unit is on call through the Valentia Coastguard every day of the year, ready to brave force-7 storms and seven-metre waves to rescue those in distress along the Derrynane coastline and surrounding towns such as Sneem, Kenmare, Ardgroom and Eyeries.

The organisation's core service is a rapid, on-scene response to maritime emergencies, working in partnership with the Irish Coast Guard, the RNLI and the Cliff & Coastal Rescue Service. In addition to lifesaving operations, Derrynane Inshore Rescue sustains its fleet and training programmes through a series of community-focused fundraising events, including the annual Splash Bash, Christmas Day Swimmers and a New Year's Charity Walk. These events not only generate vital funds-covering the shortfall between government support and operational costs-but also strengthen the bond between the rescue crew and the local community.

Supported entirely by public generosity, the rescue service relies on donations to keep its vessels, equipment and volunteer training up to date. By contributing to Derrynane Inshore Rescue, donors help ensure that the coast remains safe for residents, anglers, tourists and anyone who ventures onto the waters of Kenmare Bay.
