Business summary

Frank Hackett Barber Shops Limited, trading as Retro Barber, is Limerick's most decorated barber shop and training academy. Owned by third-generation barber Frank Hackett, the family-run business has been shaping the city's grooming scene since 1926 and now operates from the heart of Limerick City.

The shop offers a full suite of classic barbering services - precision haircuts, hot towel shaves, wedding party styling and a dedicated children's area equipped with two "sports-car" barber chairs for a fun, kid-friendly experience. Retro Barber also stocks premium men's grooming products, including 1922 JM Keune, Layrite and Slick Gorilla, ensuring every client leaves looking and feeling their best.

Beyond the chair, Retro Academy delivers structured training for aspiring barbers and hairdressers, from introductory Level 1 courses to advanced Level 2 programmes and intensive three-day workshops. The academy's curriculum is designed for beginners and seasoned professionals alike, reflecting the shop's award-winning pedigree - recent honours include the Irish Keune Awards (2022), Irish Visionary Winners (2018) and the OMC World Championship (2017).
