Cornafulla Wind Farm DAC

Cornafulla Wind Farm Designated Activity Company is a joint venture between BnM and SSE Renewables, established to develop renewable energy infrastructure in the Midlands. The partnership proposes to construct the Cornafulla Wind Farm on Cornafulla Bog in County Roscommon. This site is situated adjacent to the communities of Athlone, Clonmacnoise, and Shannonbridge. The project aims to deliver up to 800MW of new onshore wind energy across the region.

The primary purpose of the Cornafulla Wind Farm is to generate renewable electricity for transmission directly onto Ireland’s National Grid, which is managed by EirGrid. As the project is currently at a very early stage, specific details regarding the number, location, and height of turbines have not yet been determined. The joint venture is committed to an active communication programme to inform and engage with local residents.

The company seeks feedback from the community to help inform the design, construction, and operation of the proposed wind farm. It provides public consultation materials, including a Development Study Area and a Project Information Booklet, to those in the locality.
