Bellair Wind Farm DAC

Bellair Wind Farm Designated Activity Company is developing a proposed wind farm on Bellair North and Bellair South Bogs in Counties Offaly and Westmeath. The project is part of a 50:50 joint venture between BnM and SSE Renewables targeting up to 800MW of new renewable onshore wind energy across the Midlands. The proposed wind farm, launched in mid-2025, comprises 12 turbines with a maximum blade tip height of 220 metres. The draft layout was developed using a constraints-led approach informed by on-site surveys, constraints mapping, and public consultation. The company generates renewable electricity for transmission directly onto Ireland’s National Grid, managed by EirGrid. It provides community benefits arising from construction and operation, and keeps local residents informed about the project.
