Allod Energy Ltd

Allód Energy Ltd is developing a green hydrogen subsea storage project in the Celtic Sea, with work on feasibility beginning in 2022. The project aims to store approximately 1 TWh of hydrogen in its first phase, located roughly 80 to 90 km from shore and about 1,000 metres beneath the seabed. The company plans to bring the facility into operation in the mid-2030s, subject to development, licensing and permitting, and consultation with local communities, the fisheries and seafood industry, and other stakeholders. The storage is intended to manage the intermittency and seasonality of green hydrogen production in Ireland, providing a reliable continuous supply to end users. The project could save approximately 580,000 tonnes of CO₂ per annum, support clean energy production and use in the energy, heat and industrial sectors, and potentially create up to 200 to 300 jobs during construction and 25 full-time long-term jobs.
