Sightless Cinema

Sightless Cinema is a collaborative arts project devised by theatre artist Ciarán Taylor. The company creates audio theatre productions designed for live performance in theatres. These immersive experiences are intended for audiences to enjoy with their eyes closed, encouraging them to use their imagination. The productions are co-created and recorded by performers who have sight loss, ensuring an authentic and inclusive artistic process.

The organisation offers collaborative workshops that bring together people with sight loss and theatre makers. These workshops currently take place in several locations across Ireland, including Tallaght, Navan, Portlaoise, and Newbridge. Through these sessions, participants engage in the creative development of audio theatre, fostering a unique partnership between artists and community members.

These include Rethink Ireland, Kildare County Council, South Dublin County Council, Laois County Council, and Meath County Council. The company also collaborates with arts centres such as Riverbank Arts Centre, Dunamaise Arts Centre, Rua Red Arts Centre, and The Civic.
