Shannon Paddlers CLG

Shannon Paddlers Company Limited by Guarantee operates as a Canoeing Ireland-registered kayak and canoe club. Founded in 2017, the organisation is based in O’Briens Bridge, County Clare, situated on the banks of the River Shannon. The club serves members from the local area and those within easy reach of Limerick and Tipperary. It provides access to both flatwater and canal trips, as well as Class 2 and 3 whitewater experiences.

The club welcomes beginners and offers regular Level 1 Sit-on-Top and Level 2 Sit-in Kayak classes from April to October. Individuals who have already completed a Level 1 Flatwater sit-on-top skills course or equivalent are eligible to join. Club trips are run three or four times a week during the spring and summer months, with additional activities depending on weather conditions throughout the winter.

As a volunteer-run club, Shannon Paddlers actively promotes further training in paddling and safety skills. The organisation encourages members to develop the competence and confidence required to paddle safely in small groups. The club maintains a strong focus on safety, with clear policies and a code of conduct in place. Members benefit from a sheltered flatwater location that is close to whitewater falls towards Limerick, providing a diverse range of paddling opportunities.
