Electric Elves CLG

Electric ELVES is the programme for electric vehicle battery collection and recycling in Ireland. It provides authorised treatment facilities (ATFs) with support in handling hybrid, electric, mild and micro hybrid vehicles, including dismantling information, training, free collection and recycling of batteries, and additional support for potentially damaged vehicles or batteries. The programme is open to all ATFs in the Republic of Ireland, free of charge, and has been in operation since 2018. ELVES has facilitated free accredited training in the safe handling of electric and hybrid vehicles to over 195 participants across Ireland, with sessions held in multiple locations and online. The organisation also distributes safety posters and documentation to ATFs, and has secured funding for the Electric Loops project, which investigated the reuse and recycling potential of electric vehicles as a circular economy initiative. ELVES reports meeting Ireland’s reuse, recycling and recovery targets for four consecutive years and has achieved carbon neutral organisation certification.
