Tullaghmore Wind Farm Ltd

Tullaghmore Wind Farm Limited is developing the proposed Tullaghmore Wind Farm project in County Galway. The study area is located approximately nine kilometres west of Oughterard and six kilometres east of Maam Cross. The project is currently in the environmental impact assessment, planning application and public consultation phase. It involves a six turbine design with an overall maximum height of one hundred and eighty five metres. The development requires a thirty nine point six million euro investment and aims to generate enough clean electricity to power over twenty one thousand nine hundred Irish homes.

The project is developed by EMPower, an Irish based international wind and solar energy developer. EMPower is owned by GGE Ireland Limited, Wind Power Invest A/S and EMP Holdings Limited. The company states it has over seven hundred megawatts in development across Europe and Africa. The proposed wind farm is expected to create direct jobs during construction and operations. It will also contribute to local infrastructure and provide a community fund calculated at two euros per megawatt hour of electricity produced. This fund is available for the duration of the Renewable Electricity Support Scheme. The project aims to provide low carbon, ecologically non-invasive and affordable energy to support Ireland’s sustainable energy targets and expanding economy.
